Approach

Work is measured by what it achieves.

A problem solved, part of the product made better, or a team that works better than it did. Digital Vault is accountable for the decisions as well as the code, including putting things right when a call turns out to be wrong.

How it works

  1. Be direct about what is wrong Problems are raised early and plainly.
  2. Be open about the trade-offs What gets built, what gets left out, and why.
  3. Leave things in better shape The code and the team, better than they were.

Whatever the size of the work, the approach is the same.

What Digital Vault does not do

No seat-filling

Billing can be by the day or by the month. A day rate is common for contractors in the UK, and either is fine. What Digital Vault does not take on is work where the whole brief is closing tickets.

No work outside the specialism

The specialism is web and mobile products: backend, frontend, deployment and the decisions that connect them. For anything outside that, Digital Vault points the client to someone better suited instead of learning on the client's budget.

Turning this work down costs money. It is worth it, because a company that takes any job it is offered says very little about what it is actually good at.
